Today we have a little sneak peek in to the life of an OT student. We are speaking with Alaskah Hindry, a final year occupational therapy student from Sydney, Australia. Alaskah is in her 7th year of university, after completing a few years part-time following the birth of her daughter. She shares her student journey – the ups and the downs, what’s required during student placement and her top tips for placement preparation, how she navigates the stressful times, and how she balances her roles as a wife, mother, allied health assistant, business owner and student. We talk about getting ready for ‘the real world’ and making the transition from OT student to OT practitioner.
There can feel like there is a lot of knowledge to learn and integrate in order to feel confident and competent stepping into this new therapist role, and I hope this conversation supports you on your journey.
This episode is not only valuable for OT students and those considering choosing OT as a career path, but also supervisors, clinic owners and any OT professional supporting students and new graduates.
