How do we know it’s ‘acheiable’, if its never been done before?
If there’s no evidence of it being ‘attainable’?
Let’s not put a cap on our clients dreams, desires and goals to ensure they fit into OUR goal setting framework.
For when the bar is set too low, they may fall short of reaching their occupational potential.
When they consciously decide to raise the bar high, they may fall short of reaching their goal, but exceed what they ever believed was possible.
So should we be re-assessing SMART goals?
Goal setting, like any assessment, intervention, framework or model – is not a one-size-fits-all approach.
Plus, what we deem as ‘achievable’ is a matter of perception. x
