May we be bold enough to question everything. Anything that is not an absolute truth, is a relative truth. Just like the three categories of occupation that we have created; self-care, leisure and productivity. They’re not wrong, but they’re not right for everyone. They are relative to an individuals circumstances, where in the world they live, their belief systems and a million other things. How does every occupation fit neatly into one of these boxes? I’m not sure they can. Let’s explore it together….

Karen Whalley Hammell and Michael Iwama have inspired my thinking and sharpened my questioning around this topic. Forever grateful for the brilliant minds and leaders in OT who aren’t afraid to question the status quo.
