Mandy is a Holistic Occupational Therapist who is graduate of Quinnipiac University in 2001. She has been in the field of medicine since 2001 working with people of all ages. She is certified in Sensory Integration, trained in Craniosacral Therapy, a Registered Yoga Therapist and graduate of Kerala Academy as an Ayurvedic Wellness Practitioner. Her certification as a Panchakarma Technician allows her to provide 5 therapeutic Ayurvedic manual therapies for specific pathologies, for the reduction of pain, for overall stress reduction, and to manage orthopedic injuries for any given athlete. Mandy is the co-owner of Holistic Therapies 4Life and works as a Holistic Occupational Therapist. In addition, she is a mentor and educator for occupational therapy students and professors in holistic therapies. She also teaches yoga, co-teaches workshops, and assists in building community of conscious living. She has presented at conferences for MAOT, AOTA and at local colleges throughout the Boston area to educate practitioners, students, teachers, and colleagues on her passion of merging Yoga and Ayurveda into the medical community. Dan is a psychiatric occupational therapist and certified personal coach with over 21 years of experience. Dan is the founder of Dan Eisner Consulting. He offers a unique blend of services that combines elements of therapy, personal coaching, and practical spirituality. He is the author of two books: The Clinical Success Formula and Mindful Healthcare.

Ana Hernando OTR, MOT, MBA, is passionate about complimentary and integrative medicine and is a National Board-Certified Occupational Therapist with over 20 years’ experience across treatment settings. She holds several specialty certifications including Sensory Specialist, Level III Reiki provider, Self-Talk Speaker and Trainer, Life Coach and Chair Yoga for Seniors provider. Ana focuses on empowering people to reclaim their health from the inside out. She is the creator of the 12 Steps to Wellness© program. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology, a Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy and a Master’s of Business Administration and is currently a doctoral student in Performance Psychology. She has conducted continuing education seminars for several years and has been a guest speaker for The Rehab Summit, TPTA, American Airlines Professional Women in Aviation, Texas Autism Conference, MOPS International, Mothers of Multiples and The Lions Club International. Acupressure and OT: The Power of Touch to Heal

Deanna Waggy, OTR, MSA is passionate about whole-being health. Deanna integrates 35+ years of experience as a holistic occupational therapist, a spiritual director and multiple certifications in Zero Balancing (ZB), Clinical Acupressure, Process Acupressure and advanced Soul Lightening Acupressure. Deanna currently has a private wellness practice in South Bend, Indiana serving infants to adults. She also consults with holistic practitioners for clinical skills development, spiritual guidance and professional growth, including individualized Zoom trainings for practitioners learning how to teach via livestream webinars. Deanna teaches Clinical Acupressure 1 and Process Acupressure 1a classes as part of a 50 hour Foundation Certificate program for Soul Lightening International. She also teaches Seva Stress Release Acupressure and the Good Points Self Care Acupressure series via Livestream webinars. She looks forward to completing her Zero Balancing teacher training in early 2022. 

Deanna collected and co-edited a book of 90 Soul Lightening Acupressure case studies entitled Empowering Whole-Being Health (2018). She participated in an acupressure research project which was published in a peer-reviewed journal in 2019 entitled Beyond Pills: Acupressure Impact on Self-Rated Pain and Anxiety Scores E Monson, D Waggy, et al. THERESA TOVEY

Yoga in Occupational Therapy: A Holistic System for Health and Wellness

Theresa (Terry) Tovey, MOTR/L is an occupational therapist who uses children’s yoga as a therapeutic modality extensively in her work as a public school OT. Embedding the student’s OT goals into what she calls sensory-motor yoga has allowed Terry to work holistically addressing the development of the Whole Child. Breathing, relaxation, and meditation practices are an integral part of children’s yoga. These practices provide students with valuable tools they can use both in and out of school. In 2015, Terry became a lead trainer for Radiant Child Yoga. To further expand her skills, Terry is pursuing her IAYT certification through the Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy School. Embracing Reiki and Energy Healing Within Our OT Sessions

Rebecca Austill-Clausen, MS, OTR/L, FAOTA has been practicing Reiki for 25 years. She is a Reiki Master, award-winning author of the book Change Maker, How My Brother’s Death Woke Up My Life, entrepreneur, and Fellow of the American OT Association. She trains OT practitioners, educators, and students how to use Reiki as part of our occupation-based practice both in person and online. Rebecca has presented certificate provided Reiki courses at the AOTA Annual Conference for 5 years along with teaching Reiki at numerous universities. Her widely acclaimed Reiki Immersion Online program is taught each spring.

Sheela currently serves on San Francisco’s Alternatives to Policing Steering Committee and multiple DEI committees that represent California occupational therapists. She also founded the BIPOC OT Practitioners Group and the BIPOC OT Directory of Providers.

BRONWYN PAYNTER

The Benefits of Nature Through An Occupational Lens and How To Incorporate It Into Your Work

Bronwyn is an Occupational Therapist, Forest & Nature Therapy Guide & Mentor, Permaculture Designer and Speaker. 

I help occupational therapists internationally create nature-based programs, services and businesses using The NatureOT Method, from my nature connected home in South Australia. I have worked as an occupational therapist since 1993, predominantly in the employment sector with the ‘well population’ creating healthy, safe and engaging work through managing work health safety, workplace injury and employee wellbeing programs. I am a health professional who has never worked in the health/illness system! 

Fuelled by a desire to spend more time outside, and a search for a greater sense of purpose and meaning, I studied Permaculture Design and Forest & Nature Therapy guiding. I combine these practices with wellbeing focused occupational therapy in an approach to program design that supports the wellbeing of therapists, communities AND the planet. 

I am passionate about creating a community of practice for nature loving OTs to ‘find their tribe’ and nurture an international on-line community of over 1,700 OTs from all over the planet in the ‘Nature OTs – connect and grow’ group. I am dedicated to helping OTs create personally and financially viable ways to partner with nature in their businesses and I’m growing a niche community of OT business owners in the ‘NatureOT Entrepreneurs’ group.
